Mmmmm, smoothie
Jack turned 15 months on July 10th, while we were in Hawaii (on the Big Island). We had a great trip, but I’ll post more about that later, hopefully once I’ve gotten the photos sorted out.
He had his 15 month appointment today and was deemed very healthy. He is a little over 30 inches, so still in the 25th percentile for height, but doesn’t even weigh 21 pounds yet, so he’s slipped down to the 10th percentile for weight. The doctor said that’s not uncommon at this age, since they’re moving around so much. He’s still a very good eater.
We did have a bunch of medical stuff a couple of weeks ago though: I had to take him to the doctor for a swollen testicle, and he sent us to the hospital for an ultrasound (you can imagine how fun that was) and then on to a urologist. Turns out he just has something called a hyrdoseal, which means excess liquid. It is harmless, but they may do surgery when he’s older.
On that same day I had my knee MRI scheduled (I did end up going to see a doctor) and Chris ended up meeting us at the hospital where we had Jack’s ultrasound, and then I rushed off for my MRI. I went to see the knee doctor again after the MRI and he says I have a stress fracture. He was concerned that my bone density may be low and I’m having a bone density scan on Friday. Sigh. We’ll see what happens; I won’t see him again for a month. In the meanwhile, no running. It doesn’t bother me otherwise, though.
Back to Jack being 15 months.. he is tons of fun these days, and learning so much. It is amazing to me how much comprehension they have at this age. He is doing a few signs, like “more” and “milk”, and can point to his nose, mouth, toes, etc, as well as all kinds of other things (like the teapot). He still loves peek-a-boo and hides behind the curtain and then jumps out with a big grin.
He had a great time in Hawaii. He loved the beach, both playing in the sand and wading, as well as floating around in the water.
He had two shots today, but no more shots (unless we do the flu shot) til he’s 2. I’m down to one nursing a day, when he wakes up, and I think I’ll probably wean him completely over the next month.
15 months is definitely the best age yet!
