Just wanted to give a public thank you to my husband because every weekend morning after I’ve fed Jack, he gets up with him and LETS ME SLEEP IN. It keeps me sane.

A Shout-Out to Chris
January 22, 2009Long Day
January 22, 2009
Today was a long one. Jack and I both have colds. I didn’t sleep so great last night, both because of my own cold and listening to Jack cough. He woke up for good at 6:45, a little early for him these days. He cried while I was making his breakfast; he cried after breakfast; he cried when it was time to nap. After he fell asleep I lay down, but then he only napped for 30 minutes. Foiled!
Then he cried a while more. We met a friend for lunch and thankfully he was very good during lunch. He sat in his highchair and looked around, and ate a bunch of food off of his new placemat. Then he fell asleep on the way home in the car, but of course woke up when I brought him inside. Then he cried a while. Basically he just wanted to be carried around. Holding him sitting down: no good! Lying on the floor and letting him crawl on me (which he usually likes): no good!
I finally put him in the Ergo, in the back carry position. This was the second time I have put him in there by myself, and it’s a little hair-raising getting him in there. He was quite happy after that and I managed to do a bunch of laundry and other chores, but I had to keep on the move.
After I took him out he cried some more, then had dinner. Then I think he played for 10 minutes by himself. Then he cried some more. After my 12-hour shift, Chris came home and we had dinner while Jack cried in the highchair. Now he’s crying while Chris gets him ready for bed.
Most days are NOT like this, thank goodness. I’m worn out.
Nine Months
January 8, 2009In two weeks, Jack will have been outside of me longer than inside. Whoa.. pregnancy lasts a long time, doesn’t it?
Jack had his 9-month appointment today. He weighed in at 18.3 ounces, and is 27″ long, so he’s still in the 25th percentile for both. His iron levels are just fine, which is good to know.
He’s very into standing up right now.. tries to pull up on everything he can. One of his favorite things to do is stand on the windowsill in his room and look outside (with me holding him, obviously). He also likes to lick the window. Mmm, window.
Next week we’re starting in a “parent participation school,” meaning the parents attend as well. It’s only two hours, once a week. No idea what that will be like.. I hope we both enjoy it.
Nine months is a nice age. But so far I’ve thought every age was better than the previous one.
